To get a taste of Japan’s modern and ancient sides, you must visit Tokyo and Kyoto. With over 31 million residents, Tokyo is the largest city in the world and is as modern and cosmopolitan as one can get.

But, all you have to do is hop on Japan’s iconic Shinkansen (bullet train) to transport yourself to what seems like an entirely different world. Kyoto is rich in tradition, characterized by Buddhist temples, palaces, and Shinto shrines. It’s an absolutely breathtaking look at old Japan that you must visit.

Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan

Thank you Dr. Goodless for your amazing insights into some of the world’s best travel destinations.

I love Seoul because of its dynamic mixture of both new and old. You’ll find amazing man-made skyscrapers and technological advances juxtaposed with ancient temples, palaces, and gardens, all in the same city.

Seoul, South Korea

This country is a diverse mix of exotic cultures and is characterized by its friendly people and absolutely delicious cuisine. A favorite dish is nas lemak, rice made with coconut milk and accompanied by a variety of foods, like hard-boiled egg, peanuts, or curry. It’s an absolute must try for anyone visiting Malaysia.

This is Part One of our series highlighting our contributing doctor’s favorite travel destinations.

We all know that travel is good for the soul, but did you know it’s just as good for the body?

Studies have shown that those who vacation more often have a lower risk of suffering a heart attack or dying from a heart related disease. In addition, travel offers great benefits to your cognitive health. Researchers have found that because travel challenges our brains with new experiences, it promotes brain health in a fashion similar to doing crossword puzzles or playing Sudoku

Today, we feature Dr. Dean Goodless, dermatologist, as he tells us about a few of his favorite travel destinations. We hope his photos inspire your own sense of wonder, and encourage you to go out and make your own adventures.
